The Springfield School District is seeking to hire a motivated, qualified candidate to serve as their Assistant Principal at ET Richardson Middle School effective for the 2023-2024 school year. The Assistant Principal is a
twelve-month position with a start date of July1, 2023.
Qualifications: Valid PA Teacher Certification and PA Principal K-12 or Secondary School Principal Certification. Master's degree in Education preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of secondary (middle or high school) teaching experience. Preferably at the applicable level and preferably in secondary math or science teaching.
Prior experience as a building level administrator required.
Summary: Performs various functions as a member of the ETR administrative team.
These include but are not limited to:

- Assumes the responsibilities of the principal when he/she is out of the building.

- Participates in district level committees.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the working environment.
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
- May be asked to restrain students
- May be asked to walk the building consistently and occasionally run
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
Teaching and Learning
- Assists the principal with the selection, support, supervision, and evaluation of all school personnel.
- Demonstrates superior knowledge of and has experience with implementing effective instructional and behavioral methods for students.
- Displays a passion for educational excellence, data-driven instruction, and a personal commitment to accountability for results.
- Collaborates with students, parents, and staff to ensure implementation of student services.
Building Supervision
- Oversees the day-to-day building supervision, including arrival, dismissal, and lunches.
- Coordinates and supports substitute teachers.
- Schedules and administers fire drills and all aspects of emergency preparedness.
- Coordinates and schedules national, state, district, and local assessments.
Student Discipline
- Assumes responsibility for implementing student discipline procedures, including processing conduct referrals, assigning disciplinary consequences, and mediating student/parent/teacher conferences for student and classroom-based issues.
- Process conduct referrals in eSchool
- Initiate referrals for incidents outside the classroom if not created by staff member
- Assign detentions and in-school suspensions
- Monitor or coordinate the oversight of the after school detention room and in-school suspensions, as needed
Attendance
- Responsible for student attendance, attendance records, and enforcement of attendance in accordance with law and District policy.
- Process tardy arrivals to school in coordination with attendance and discipline secretary
- When necessary, enact Truancy Elimination Plans for unexcused and excused absences based on current truancy policies
Generate weekly or bi-weekly attendance report
